Cover Tips

Tips for Putting on Your Cover the First Time (if you have a walking accessible roof):

  • When you receive your cover, it will be packaged tightly in the box.
  • The first time you put your cover on the trailer, you may have to lift the plastic-wrapped cover to the roof of your trailer (This will be the last time you’ll have to lift the entire cover).
  • Unwrap the cover, spread it out on your roof, determine where the front and the rear of the cover are located, and position it on your roof accordingly (the location of your zipper doors may help you in this process).
  • We recommend that trailers equipped with ladders located in the front, should have their covers put on from the rear first (switch this order if the ladder is located in the rear).
  • Let the sides of the cover hang over the edges of the trailer.
  • Pull the cover down with you as you climb down the ladder.
  • Walk around the trailer and adjust the corners and sides of the cover for a proper fit.
  • Connect the buckles and straps underneath your trailer.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!

Tips for Taking off Your Cover:

  • Loosen the buckles and straps from under your trailer.
  • Lift up all four corners of the cover and make sure that the fabric doesn’t snag on the trailer.
  • Push the cover up to the roof of the trailer as you climb up the ladder, with your storage bag.
  • When you are on the roof of the trailer, pull up the cover from all four sides.
  • Fold the cover lengthwise like a burrito.
  • Trailers with the ladder located in the front, stuff the front of the cover in the storage bag first.
  • Trailers with the ladder located in the rear, stuff the rear of the cover in the storage bag first.
  • Take the cover in the storage bag, off of the roof, and store in a cool, dry area until the next use.

* We recommend that you do not store a wet cover in the storage bag in order to prevent mildew.

Tips for Putting on Your Cover after the First Time:

  • Place the storage bag with the cover inside, at the base of your ladder.
  • Open the storage bag and grab the top of the cover.
  • Pull just what is in your hand as you climb the ladder.
  • When you are standing on the roof, continue to pull the remaining material from the bag.
  • You will know where the rear and the front of the cover are, because of the way you placed the cover in the storage bag the last time.

*The average time it may take to cover your trailer is estimated between 20 – 30 minutes.

Tips for Prolonging the Life of Your Cover:

Always make sure that sharp areas of your trailer are properly padded or protected to ensure the longest life for your cover. The covers are equipped with grommets on reinforced tabs to take up as much extra material as possible. We suggest you use rope or string and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! Do not use bungee cords  because they can pull grommets out of the cover. Throw the long straps under coach and buckle. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!

Suggested Items You May Use:

  • Hot water insulated pipe from local hardware centers
  • Water noodles from pool supply stores
  • Old garden hose (slit horizontally across the middle and secure over sharp area)
  • Tennis ball on the exhaust pipe
